The growing need for private funding in public education Public schools face greater challenges in today’s economic climate. As per-pupil state funding continues to decline, school districts must find a way to continue to offer excellence in education to prepare our next generation of world leaders. That’s why we’ve created the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools Education Excellence Foundation, providing an opportunity for our alumni and friends to invest in the Mt. Pleasant Public School district. For some time now, colleges and private schools have relied on private funds to offset budget deficits. According to recent data from the National School Foundation Association, $31.5 billion has been given to education nationwide, funding everything from playground overhauls, school and classroom supplies, field trips, professional development and the creation of endowed funds. It’s time for public K-12 schools to turn to its alumni base and other prospective constituencies to generate funds to ensure education excellence through an Education Foundation. |
Foundation … Take a glance at cities and towns with top-notch public school systems, you’ll notice they have one thing in common – a strong network of community support. In founding the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools Education Excellence Foundation, we are reaching out to alumni and the community to create opportunities to instill excellence in academics, the arts and athletics. We seek to ensure that every Mt. Pleasant Public Schools student receives an education that is second to none. The Foundation will serve two purposes. First, it will be a catalyst to generate financial support for the district. Secondly, the Foundation will be a connection point for alumni. Over the years, thousands of students have graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and gone on to do great things. We’re eager to reconnect with alumni and celebrate your achievements. |
